GESC Manual

Overview
The City of Centennial has instituted a new Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control (GESC) program. The new GESC program replaces the city's previous Erosion and Sedimentation Control criteria, and is required for all land disturbances.

The new program is a direct result of the city's National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) permit, issued by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Quality Control Division. The permit requires the city to develop and implement educational and regulatory programs to address stormwater quality.

GESC Permit
One of the mechanisms for minimizing the amount of pollutants entering streams through the stormwater infrastructure is to control runoff from construction sites through the use of Best Management Practices (BMPs). The GESC Manual (available below) outlines when and what type of GESC permit is required, how to complete a GESC Plan, who completes a GESC Plan, and how to close out a GESC Permit.

All GESC (standard and low impact) are issued through SEMSWA.
